The Computer Science curriculum in almost all private universities in Afghanistan are not up to date and mostly they rely heavily on theory, more than practice. Graduates from such faculties are not usually ready to get hold of a job and to enhance their skills, they face difficulty finding academies or courses to attend. This is one of the main reasons Computer Science graduates choose to work in areas other programming and coding and they feel the years they spent studying Computer Science is wasted and out of use.

Main challenges are:

  • Universities with out-dated resources and materials
  • Universities relying more on theory than practice
  • Limited employment opportunities as a developer in competitive market of Afghanistan
  • Lack of courses and resources
  • Lack of overall incentive to pursue programming and coding as a profession

Hi, I’m Mustafa Mohammadi graduated from Avicenna University. During university years, I attended many programs, but they were all very boring for me. When it was announced on the CodeWekeend website that there is a CodeWeekend Bootcamp program, I registered very quickly and I told my friends that I signed-up for the CodeWekeend event. They laughed at me and said it is not useful for you. but I kept going and learned a lot of things I didn't know.

This program was very effective for me and I made a lot of improvements every time I spoke with Mr. Jamshid Hashimi, he has motivated me that I can succeed.
Mr. Hashimi is a kind of person that motivates you to be a successful person in your life. I thank Mr. Hashimi for creating the program that helped me develop and thank Mr. Shaheen Naikpay for organizing these programs.
